Area of room =6×9.5m = 57m
length of varandah=9.5m+1.5+1
5=12.5m
breath = 6+1.5+1.5=9m
area of big room=9×12.5=112.5
area of varanda=112.5-57m=
54.5m ANS

amansharma17: but answer is 1260
dipankar7493: Area =54.5m but cost =54.5×28

Step-by-step explanation:

Giveb:

  • Length and Breadth of room is 9.5 m and 6 m respectively.
  • Width of veranda is 1.25 m.
  • Cost of cementing is 28 / m²

To Find:

  • What is cost of cementing the floor of veranda ?

Solution: Let ABCD be a rectangular room surrounded by EFGH.

In rectangle ABCD

  • Length = AB = 9.5 m
  • Breadth = BC = 6 m

Area of rectangular room =Length x Breadth★

\small\implies{\sf } Area of ABCD = AB X BC

\small\implies{\sf } Area of ABCD = (9.5 x 6 )

\small\implies{\sf } Area of ABCD = 57

In rectangle EFGH

Length = EF = (AB + 1.25 + 1.25)

  • EF = ( 9.5 + 1.25 + 1.25) = 12 m

Breadth = FG = (BC + 1.25 + 1.25)

  • FG = (6 + 1.25 + 1.25) = 8.5 m

Area of EFGH = EF x FG

\small\implies{\sf } Area of EFGH = (12 x 8.5)

\small\implies{\sf } Area of EFGH = 102

If we subtract the area of ABCD from the area of EFGH, we will get the area of veranda

\small\implies{\sf } Area of veranda = Area ( EFGH ABCD)

\small\implies{\sf } Area of veranda = (102 57)

\small\implies{\sf } Area of veranda = 45

Hence, the area of veranda is 45

Cost of cementing 1 m² floor of veranda = Rs 28

∴ Cost of cementing 45m² floor of veranda = Rs ( 28 x 45) = Rs 1260

Hence, Cost of cementing the floor of veranda is Rs 1260.
