A room is 5.4 m by 4.8 m. A carpet is laid centrally, leaving a margin of 40 cm all around between the walls of the room. Find the area of the carpet in square metres.​

Answer:

Area of room =25.92m^2

area of the space without carpet, as it is square i.e, 40 all the sides.

so ar(sq.) =side^2....40×40

=1600cm^2 i.e, 16m^2

so, area of carpet =ar(room)-ar(space wthout carpet)

i.e, 25.92m^2-16m^2

=9.92m^2
