Answer:

The length of the pieces with the ratio of 6:7 is 54 cm and 63 cm respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given:

The length of the rope = 1 m + 17 cm = 100 cm + 17 cm

                              = 117 cm

Ratio of the two pieces of rope = 6:7

To find out:

The length of two pieces.

Solution:

Let P1 and P2 be the two pieces. That is P1:P2 = 6:7.

From the given, P1 is 6 parts and P2 is 7 parts. Then the total parts are given as,

      P1 + P2 = 6 + 7 = 13

This means that the total 13 parts are equal to the length 117cm. Therefore, the length of one part = 117 ÷ 13

                                           = 9

Hence the length of P1 = 6 × 9 = 54 cm

         the length of P2 = 7 × 9 = 63 cm

The length of the pieces with the ratio of 6:7 is 54 cm and 63 cm respectively.
