The height of the pole is about 14.14 m.

Explanation:

As per the given description a picture is drawn ( in attachment).

Pole is making a right triangle as it is standing vertical making 90° with ground and rope is the hypotenuse.

The pole is the opposite to angle 45°.

Let h be the height of the pole.

According to the trigonometry , in right triangle

\sin x =\dfrac{\text{side opposite to x}}{\text{Hypotenuse}}

For the triangle below ,

\sin 45^{\circ} =\dfrac{h}{20}

\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{2}}=\dfrac{h}{20}

h=\dfrac{20}{\sqrt{2}}=\dfrac{20\sqrt{2}}{2}\\\\=10\sqrt{2}=10(1.414)=14.14\ m

Hence, the height of the pole is about 14.14 m.
