Let the speed of sailor = x
speed of boat = y
24/x+y + 48/x-y = 8
3/x+y + 6/x-y = 1
1/x+y + 2/x-y= 1/3
2/x+y + 4/x-y = 2/3(16/24).............(1)
Second Case
48/x+y + 24/x-y = 7
2/x+y + 1/x-y = 7/24................(2)
8/x+y + 4/x-y = 28/24..................(3)
(1) - (2) = 3/x-y = 9/24
= x-y = 8 ...........(4)
(3) - (1) = 4/x+y =1/3
x+y = 12...(5)
Solving (4) and (5)
x+y+x-y=2x= 20
x= 10
y=2
speed of boat = y
24/x+y + 48/x-y = 8
