He had Rs.43 or Rs.44 with him in the begining.

Given

To find how much money did the person had with him.

Let the original money the person had be "x".

If the person touch a holy stick, money would be triple with the original money he had, ( i.e., ) " 3x ".

Person has to pay Rs.80 to saint after a single touch of a holy stick, that would be represent as " ( 3x - 80 ) ".

He touched the holy stick four times , that will be " ( 4(3x-80) ) ".

After touching the stick fourth time and pay to saint, remaining money he had with him is Rs.202.

                                  4 (3x-80) = 202

                                  12x - 320 = 202

                                            12x = 202 + 320

                                            12x = 522

                                                x = 522/12

                                                x = 43.5 (or) 44

He had Rs.43 or Rs.44 with him in the beginning.
