Given :

  • There is a sample of Ammonium phosphate (NH4)3PO4.
  • Number of moles of H-atom = 6

To Find :

  • The number of moles of oxygen atoms.

Solution :

Moles of Hydrogen and oxygen atoms present in the sample are :-

Number of moles of H-atom = 12

Number of moles of O-atom = 4

Now, let the number of moles of oxygen atoms be x.

And, given number of H-atoms = 6

Then, according to the question

4 moles of O - atoms are required for 12 moles of H-atoms.

Then,

x moles of O-atoms required for 6 moles of H-atom = 6×4/12 = 2 moles.

Therefore, there are 2 moles of O-atoms in the ammonium phosphate sample.
