A says,"If B gives me ₹40 he will have half as much as C, but if C gives me ₹40 then three of us will have the same amount." What is the total amount of money that A, B and C have among them?

Let the amount B has be b, and c for C


Therefore, b - 40 = c/2

= 2b - 80 = c

also, c - 40 = b

therefore, substituting for b in the first equation,

c - 40 - 40 = c/2

or, c/2 = 80

c = 160

therefore, b = 120

and I (you) have 40 less than B, which means you have 80 rupees.
