Screen layout design/ Graphical user interface design GUI

An important part of the design of an application as well as its development is the graphical user interface (GUI). The screen layout design is a part of the GUI.

Many Android apps or windows applications are popular and preferred over others mainly because of their better visual designs, animated graphics, accessibility and fun to use interactive features.

An online software system is more successful due to its ease-of-use screen display, placement of the components appropriately, screen clarity. The screen should not be cluttered with too many details. Proper active elements and forward/backward navigation should be provided.

Layout is a type of resource/object. It's a definition of what exactly will be  drawn on the screen or how elements are placed on the device’s screen and stored internally.

A schematic diagram shows the interactions among the components or hierarchical structure of the screen design. It shows the architecture of the screen.

A 'schematic representation' of all the 'components of a screen' and how they fit together is called as 'Wireframe'.

Explanation:

  • A 'website wireframe', also popular as a page 'schematic' or page 'blueprint', is a 'visual guide' that depicts the 'skeletal framework of a website'.
  • Wireframes are simple black-and-white designs that show the exact size and location of page elements, site features, transition areas and web browsing for your site.
  • These are devoid of color, font options, logos or any real design features that take away the pure emphasis on the architecture of the page.
