Given : pen holder in the shape of cylinder by making its base and its curved surface area with cardboard

each pen holder is supposed to have a radius of 3.5 cm and height 10 cm

To Find :  how much cardboard does the school need if 30 students are participating in the competition

Solution:

radius = 3.5 cm

height = 10 cm

Base area = πR²

= (22/7)(3.5)²

=  (22/7)(3.5)²

= 38.5  cm²

curved surface area = 2πRh

= 2(22/7)(3.5)10

= 220 cm²

cardboard required for one pen holder = 38.5 + 220

= 258.5  cm²

30 students are participating in the competition

Hence Total card board required = 30 * 258.5

= 7755 cm²
