Step-by-step explanation:

Total time spent by students at school= 5 hours 30 minutes =  330 minutes.

Total break time= 15 minutes + 30 minutes= 45 minutes.

Ratio of the break time to the total time the students spend at school = 45:330.

=9:66.

9:66 is the required ratio.

Total time the students spend in school = 8am to 1:30pm = 5 hours 30 minutes

We know that,

1 hours = 60 minutes

5 hours = 5 × 60 = 300 minutes

∴ Total time = 300 minutes + 30 minutes = 330 minutes

Total break = 15 minutes + 30 minutes = 45 minutes

Ratio = 45 : 330

= 9 : 66 (Reduce to the lowest term)

Thus, the ratio of the break time to the total time the students spend in school is 9 : 66
