Let, the common multiple of the ratio be ,'n'

∴ No. of girls=(4×n)

                      = 4n

∴ No. of boys = (3×n)

                        = 3n

By condition,

4n+3n = 35

⇒ 7n= 35

⇒ n = 35/7

⇒ n = 5

∴ The no. of girls = (4×5)

                            = 20 girls

∴ The no. of boys = (3×5)

                             = 15 boys

∴ The no. of girls is more than the boys =(20-15)

                                                                  = 5 girls

(Ans): 5

Given,

Gi-rls to boys ratio = 4:3,

Total students = 35.

To find,

How many more are gi-rls there than boys.

Solution,

The ratio of gi-rl students to boy students in a science class is given as 4:3.

Now let,

the number of gi-rls = 4x and,

the number of boys = 3x.

The total number of students is given to be 35.

So, adding the number of gi-rls and boys should give the total number of students. It means,

4x + 3x = 35

⇒ 7x = 35

x = 5.

So, as we have assumed earlier,

the number of gi-rls = 4x = 4(5) = 20, and,

the number of boys = 3x = 2(5) = 15.

Now, the difference between the two will give how many more are the gi-rls than the boys. So, the difference will be,

number of gi-rls - number of boys

= 20 - 15 = 5.

Therefore, in the given class, 5 more gi-rls are there than the number of boys.
