Given :

  • Initial velocity of Scooter, u = 0
  • Final velocity of Scooter, v = 36 km/h
  • Time for acquiring final velocity, t = 5 s

To find :

  • Acceleration of Scooter, a =?

Formula required :

  • First equation of motion

       v = u + a t

[ Where v is velocity, u is initial velocity, a is acceleration and t is time taken ]

Solution :

Converting Final velocity given in km/h into m/s

→ v = 36 km/h

→ v = 36 × 5/18  m/s

→ v = 2 × 5  m/s

v = 10 m/s

Calculating acceleration of Scooter

Using first equation of motion

→ v = u + a t

→ 10 = 0 + a ( 5 )

→ 10 = 5 a

→ a = 10 / 5

a = 2 m/s²

Therefore,

  • Acceleration of Scooter is 2 m/s².

Answer:

Question

A scooter acquires a velocity of 36 km/hr in 5s just after the start. Calculate the acceleration.

Given

A scooter acquires a velocity of 36 km/hr in 5s just after the start.

To Find

Acceleration of scooter = ?

1st equation of motion:-

\dfrac{(v-u)}{t}

v = final velocity

u = initial velocity

t = time

Solution

The scooter acquires a speed of 36km/hr in 5sec

So the initial velocity is 0

Final velocity is 36km/hr = \dfrac{36×5}{18} = 10m/sec

✏ Time taken is 5sec

➡ Acceleration = \dfrac{(v-u)}{t}

=> \dfrac{(10-0)}{5}

=> \dfrac{10}{5}

=> 2m/sec²

Acceleration of scooter is 2m/sec²
