x = x₂ - x₁ = 3 mm

= 3 * 10⁻³ m

=> The distance of a screen from a single slit,  D:

D = 50 cm = 0.5 m

Wavelength λ = 6000A° = 6000 * 10⁻¹⁰ m

=> Now, x = λD/d

x₂ - x₁ =(3λ - λ)D/d

x₂ - x₁ = 2λD/d

d = 2λD / x₂ - x₁

d = 2*6000*10⁻¹⁰*0.5/3*10⁻³

d = 2 * 10⁻⁴ m

d = 0.2 mm

Thus, the width of slit is 0.2 mm.
