Answer:

Given : A shopkeeper sold a watch at a profit of 12% . If he had sold it for 144 more he would have made a profit of 18%.

To find : The cost price of the watch ?

Let the cost price of the watch = x

A shopkeeper sold a watch at a profit of 12%.

The price is p = x 12/100 X x = 1.12x

He sell the article for Rs. 12 more

The Selling Price is SP = 1.12x + 12

According to the question,

18 = 1.12x + 12 - x / x X 100

18 = 1.12x + 12 / x X 100

0.18x = 0.12x = 12

0.06x = 12

x = 12 / 0.06

x = 200

The cost price of the watch is Rs.200.
