A sharp edge knif can cut an apple more easily as compared to blunt edge knife because pressure is inversely proportional to area hence the pressure is more applied by a sharp knife compared to blunt knife.

It is easier to cut an apple with a sharp edge of knife because in the knife with sharp edge , the area of contact between the sharp egde and knife is smaller and we know that the smaller the area of contact,the more is the pressure exerted by the sharp edge ofknife and that is why ,due to the sharp edge,one has to apply less pressure in order to cut the apple thanthe knife with a bluntadge with as more area of contact and we have to apply more pressure to cut it.
