Step-by-step explanation:

Let ABCD denotes the rectangular sheet

length of a sheet = 40cm

breadth of the sheet= 20cm

°.° area of the sheet = length × breadth

=(40 ×20) cm2

= 800cm2

4 cm wide strip is cut from rectangular sheet all around , then we obtain a rectangular sheet PQRS , having

length = ( 30 - ( 4+4)) cm = 32cm

breadth = (20 -( 4+4)) cm =12 cm

°.° are of remaining sheet PQRS = ( 32 × 12 ) cm2

= 384cm2

are of strip cut out = area of sheet ABCD - area of sheet PQRS

= ( 800 - 384) cm2

= 416 cm2

ANSWER = 416 CM2
