Answer:

Time required to by the echo to reach him is 4.2 Sec. Explanation: Distance of Both Side : 10,500 + 10,500 = 21,000 m which is equal to 21 KM.

Given - Depth: 10,500 m

velocity of sound in water 1.5 km/s

Find - Time taken for echo to reach the engineer

Solution - The echo will travel firstly from engineer to depth and then will come back from depth to engineer. Thus, the distance will be added up.

Total distance = 10500 + 10500

Total distance = 21000 metres

Total distance = 21 kilometres

Now, time taken = distance/velocity

Time taken = 21/1.5

Time taken = 14 seconds.

Hence, it will take 14 seconds for echo to reach the engineer.
