Given data :

  • Mass of the ship, m = 2 * 10⁷ kg
  • Force acting on the ship, F = 25 * 10⁵ N
  • Displacement of the ship, s = 25 m
  • initial velocity of the ship, u = 0
  • Speed/final velocity of ship after displacement, v = ?

Solution : firstly we have to find out acceleration of the ship.

Now,

⟹ Force = Mass * Acceleration

⟹ Acceleration = Force/Mass

⟹ Acceleration = (25 * 10⁵)/(2 * 10⁷)

⟹ Acceleration = 12.5 * 10^( - 2 )

⟹ Acceleration = 12.5/100

⟹ Acceleration = 0.125 m/s²

Here, Acceleration, a = 0.125 m/s²

Now, we use kinematical equation

⟹ v² = u² + 2 * a * s

⟹ v² - u² = 2 * a * s

⟹ v² - 0 = 2 * 0.125 * 25

⟹ v² = 0.25 * 25

⟹ v² = 6.25

⟹ v = √6.25

⟹ v = 2.5 m/s

Answer : Speed of the ship after displacement is 2.5 m/s.
