A ship of mass 3×10^7kg and initially at rest can be pulled through a distance of 3m by means of a force of 5×10^4N . The water resistance is negligible. Find the speed attained by the ship.

Given,

m =3×10^{7} kg
s = 3 m
F = 5 × 10^{4} N
As initally it is at rest u = 0

----- First Find 'a'

We have,
F = ma

5 × 10^{4} =3×10^{7} × a

=> a = \frac{5×10^{4}}{3×10^{7}}

=> a = \frac{5}{3}× 10^{-3}

---- Now Find 'v'

We have,
v^{2}-u^{2}= 2as

As u = 0
v^{2}= 2as

v^{2} = 2 × \frac{5}{3}× 10^{-3} × 3

=> v^{2} = 10 × 10^{-3}

=> v^{2} = 10^{-2}

=> v = \sqrt{10^{-2}}

=> v = 10^{-1}

=> v = 0.1\: m/s
