A ship sends out ultrasound that return from the seabed and is detected after 3.42s. if the speed of ultrasound through sea water is 1531m/s, what is the distance of the seabed from the ship?

SINCE IT IS SENT AND RECEIVED BACK IN 3.42 SEC , IT COVERS DOUBLE THE DISTANCE FROM SEABED .

HENCE,WE NEED TO FIND 2d.

2d = speed * time

  =1531*3.42 = 5236.02

therefore ,

d = 5236.02/ 2 =2618 m
