A ship sends ultrasound that returns from the sea bed and is detected after 3.42 sec. If the speed of ultrasound through sea water is 1531 m/s. What is the distance of the sea bed from ship.

time for the ultrasonic sound to hit the sound bed and return back is 3.42sec.
so the time taken to reach the sea bed is 3.42/2
t1=1.71sec.
so the distance covered d=v*t
d=1531*1.71
d=2618.01m
