Given,

Ramp length = 3.17m

Inclination angle = 5°

To find,

The height or the value of h.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

If we compare the given situation with a right angle triangle, then,

height = h metres

hypotenuse = length of ramp = 3.17m

Angle of inclination (θ) = 5°

According to trigonometry,

Height/Hypotenuse = sin θ

Height/3.17 = Sin 5°

Height/3.17 = 0.0871

Height = 0.0871×3.17

Height = 0.276m (approx)

Hence, the height of the ramp (h) is approximately 0.276 metre.
