hi
A shopkeeper brought locks at the rate of 8 locks for rupees 34
so cost price of 8 locks = 34 rupees
so cost price of 1 lock = 34/8
=> 1 lock = 4 .25 rs
now he sold them at the rate of 12 locks for rupees 57
selling price of 12 locks = 57 rupees
selling price of 1 lock = 57/12
= 1 lock = 4.75 rs
we see that
c.p of 1 lock = 4.25
s.p of one lock = 4.75 rs
it is profit
profit = sp - cp
=4.75 - 4.25
=0.50rs
now profit%
= profit *100/c.p
0.50 *100/4.25
50*100/425
500/425
=> 11.76%
hope it helps u
