Given :   A shopkeeper buy 8 books 800 and

14 pencil for 300 each and mark ups their prices by 50% and 60% respectively.

he offers same discount percentage both books and pencil and earns a total profit for 2270Rs .

To Find  :  the discount percentage

Solution:

Total Cost price  =  8 * 800  + 14 * 300

= 6400 + 4200

= 10600

earns a total profit for 2270Rs .

Hence SP  = 10600 + 2270  =  12870  Rs

MP  of Books = 6400 + (50/100) 6400 = 9600

MP of Pencils = 4200 + (60/100) 4200 = 6720

Total MP = 16320

Discount  =  16320 -  12870 = 3,450

Discount % = (3450 / 16320 ) * 100 =  21.14 %
