Case-1:

Let, the initial M.P. be,'x'

So, 20% of x = 20x/100

S.P. = (x-20x/100)

      = (100x-20x)/100

      = 80x/100

Case-2:

C.P. = 80x/100

M.P. = (80x+100)+200

       = (80x+20000)/100

Discount = {(80x+20000)/100}*(10/100)

              = (80x+20000)/1000

S.P.= {(80x+20000)/100} - {(80x+20000)/1000}

      = (800x-80x+200000-20000)/1000

      = (720x + 180000)/1000

Profit = {(720x+180000)/1000} - (80x/100)

        = (720x-800x+180000)/1000

        = (-80x + 180000)/1000

By condition,

(- 80x + 180000)/1000 = 148

or, -80x+180000 = 148*1000

or, -80x = 148000- 180000

or, -80x = -32000

or, 80x = 32000

or, x = 32000/80

or, x = 3200/8

or, x = 400

So, the initial M.P. is rs. 400

(Ans): rs.400
