The profit percentage of shopkeeper is 12.5%. so option (a) is correct.

A shopkeeper buys pencils at 9 for rs.16 and sells them at 11 for rs.22

We have to find out the profit or loss percentage of shopkeeper.

Cost price of one pencil, CP = 16/9  [ ∵ shopkeeper buys 9 pencils for 16 rs ]

selling price of one pencil, SP = 22/11 = 2 [ ∵ shopkeeper sells 11 pencils for 22 Rs. ]

We see, SP > CP  ∴ shopkeeper got profit.

∴ profit percentage = ( SP - CP)/CP × 100

= (2 - 16/9)/(16/9) × 100

= (18 - 16)/16 × 100

= 100/8 = 12.5 %

Therefore the profit percentage of shopkeeper is 12.5%.
