Given:

A shopkeeper makes a profit of Rs 1000 in one month

A shopkeeper makes a loss of Rs 1200 in another month.

To Find:

Total profit /loss

Solution:

Profit is when the selling price is greater than cost price

Loss is when the cost price is greater than the selling price

According to question

A shopkeeper makes a profit of rs 1000 in one month and a loss of rs 1200 in another month.

So, its effective profit or loss = 1200-1000

                                                  =200

Hence, his total profit will be Rs. 200
