Let Cp of lamp be ₹x

Gain=1/6 x ₹x

=₹x/6

Sp of the lamp=cp+gain

₹350=x+x/6

₹350=(6x+x)/6

₹350=7x/6

₹350 x 6=7x

(₹350 x 6)/7=x

₹300=x

Therefore, cost price of lamp=₹300.

Cost price is Rs. 420.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Selling price = Rs. 350

Let the cost price be 'x'.

Gain = \dfrac{1}{6} of Cost price = \dfrac{1}{6}x

So, it becomes,

Selling price = Cost price + Profit

350=x-\dfrac{x}{6}\\\\350=\dfrac{6x-x}{6}\\\\350=\dfrac{5x}{6}\\\\350\times \dfrac{6}{5}=x\\\\70\times 6=x\\\\420=x

Hence, Cost price is Rs. 420.
