"What Independence means to me"

Introduction:
The concept of freedom is very luxurious but freedom means different things to different peoples, freedom is multifaceted.
For ex. for a girl who just turns 18 thinks freedom is that she can now live by her own rules instead of those set by her parents, similarly freedom to a young teenager boy is to drive his bike as fast as he can and have thrill of driving etc. But in today's world freedom is subjected to limitation it is more recognized in terms of national human rights, freedom now a days defined by the legal systems, and different legal system gives us different level of freedom depending upon which one we stand under.

Freedom is something very subjective, physical and relative. Freedom actually exists in each person's mind, some people define it in negative sense and some define it in positive way. And a negative approach towards freedom is that it is considered as "not being imprisoned by the responsibilities and commitments"
But in general we can define freedom as, "absence of any domination" or "state of being allowed to do what you want to do" etc. However, freedom is something all the above things and a lot more.

Freedom to me:
Freedom for me is the right to choose: the right to create for myself the alternative of choices.

Freedom for me is like something that i have power to be where i want to be, and to decide my own future. It means freedom from who i want to be and not what other peoples expect or want me to be. Freedom for me is the liberty to let go all the tensions, worries and boredom that i feel i have. Because if i give myself the required freedom i will be better able to make good relations with peoples, i will be better able to recognize the gifts that i didn't notice before because those were obstruct by my fear, self -protection and insecurity. Thus freedom for me is the freedom from my fears and my insecurities.

Freedom as i feel lives in our mind and it is not dependent upon our external circumstances. Real freedom is right there in our heart, mind and soul if you could only recognize it. Freedom for me also means "Tolerance", because you might not agree with peoples and their lives but tolerance means that you respect their point of views so that world moves on in harmony.

Freedom to me means;
1. Being able to worship, as i see fit.
2. Pursue the dreams i desire.
3. To be creative.
4. To express my views.
5. To make a living anywhere in the country.
6. Being able to awaken in morning without any fear.
7. It means complete freedom to live without fear of worrying about my name, ethnicity, the color of my skin etc.
8. To be able to call myself INDIAN and hold on to my great Indian culture and heritage.
9. To be able to love and to be loved regardless of any social and racial barriers.
10. Being in a democratic nation, I can criticize my government if it serves me poor.
11. To forgive and seek forgiveness.
12. I am free to cook, eat, wear, learn etc. I want.

Freedom for me is doing what i want to do as long as it doesn't infringe on the life and liberty of others
Freedom for me is being at peace as much as it is possible to me by understanding and respecting the boundaries of myself. Freedom to me means to stand for my morals, values and principles and to apply them in me.
Finally, for me it’s just being me. It has taken a long time for me to get into this place and now I just want to continue to grow and earn. It means I am on forward moving path and I am staying on it.
