Yes the development in India is happening at the cost of environment as for the development we need more and more resources and these resources are obtained from the environment itself.

We are using a lot of resources from the environment at a considerable rate and hence the rate of reformation of these resources is less than the rate of consumption causing a huge amount of depletion of these resources...
This depletion is not good because the development is done without the concept of "balance"

Balancing the use of these resources only can bring the true development without the cost of the environment.

If you want an example then here it is:-

Many wood based industries use a large amount of wood from the environment. The taking of wood is not the problem rather using it in an unbalanced way is the main problem.

This causes the trees to deplete at a large amount causing a huge distraction in the ecosystem and the environment around it. As trees are the main regulators of the environment....
