✔The arrangement of elements in increasing order of electrode potential E°is known as electrochemical series.
✔As per IUPAC rule, The series is made on the basis of standard reduction potential which is measured using standard hydrogen electrode.
✴Electrochemical series are used for:-
▶To predict relative reducing agent or oxidizing agent. More negative E° shows high tendency to loose electron and so are stronger reducing agent and vice-versa.
▶To calculate the difference between the reduction potential of cathode and anode that is emf of the cell.
▶To predict the feasibility of the reaction i.e., whether a redox reaction can occur or not.
▶To predict whether a metal can displace other metal or not.
