In 1804,Napoleon introduced a code of civil law called code Napoleon. It did away with privileges and established the revolutionary principle of equality before the law.It also protected private property.

Short note on 'Napoleon code:

Napoleon code was the first set of laws or guidelines for the people of France to follow after the revolutionary france. It was a bunch of laws, where it defined the Civil laws and the criminal laws and not abiding them would lead to punishment for the citizens of France.

Napoleonic code was very biased towards the men and women were deprived of any proper rights, the code made men of the families stronger and the women weaker.
