Explanation:The most destructive earthquake to hit Haiti since 1994, the catastrophic temblor which struck Haiti in 2010, was of 7.0 magnitude on Richter scale. What made it so destructive was that its epicentre was only about 25 kilometres from Haiti’s capital Port-Au-Prince.
Death toll was estimated to be between 100,000 to 160,000, apart from severe damage to structures. More than fifty aftershocks were recorded, some measuring as much as 4.5 on Richter scale.
