Explanation:
The Call of honour and duty.
Diwali is a festival that is celebrated by every family in India. No other festival is as auspicious and celebrated as much as Diwali. Every mother and wife expects her whole family to come back home no matter in which part of the world her family is living.
Same were the expectations at my home on the occasion of diwali on oct 2014. Me and my mother were expecting my father who is an army officer.
But we got a call before the evening from the head office. They told that they have cancelled leave of my father because he is leading an army operation in a remote location. The day of celebration for our family turned into day of worry. I was missing my dad because it had been six months since I had seen him. My mom was very sad. I tried to console her and tried to share my optimism with her. I said that he will be back soon , he is a hero and he has been successful several times before. So there is nothing to worry.
While i was trying to be the man of the house , I was also worried from deep inside. I lightened up the lamps and did puja with my mother. Then shared sweets and wishes with my neighbours. Everyone asked about my dad. I had to keep answering them . Deep inside I started to think that why my dad cannot come home like every other man in most of the families. I came back home and saw my father's picture with his uniform and medals on the wall. He seemed to be an important figure. I kept watching his portrait, the medals and the three stars on his shoulders. There were tears in my eyes. I had dinner with mom and went to my room. Before sleeping I said to myself that nation needs him more than us, he is required for his duty more than here. I slept through it.
In the morning I heard something , a man looking sharp and well dressed smiled while standing in front of me. What a morning it was because he was my dad. I leapt and hugged him tightly while my mom watched smilingly through the door.
