The velocity of the block is 10 m/s

Explanation:

Let the mass of the shot = m

Then mass of the block = 13m

Initial velocity of the shot u = 140 m/s

Initial velocity of the block = 0

Let after the collision velocity of the shot + Block be v

Then.

From conservation of linear momentum

mu+13m\times 0=(m+13m)v

\implies m\times 140=14mv

\implies v=\frac{140}{14}

\implies v=10 m/s
