For any general wave in sinusoidal form
y=Asin(kx−ωt+ϕ), the meanings of the symbols are as follows :
A = Amplitude
k=2πλ = wave number, where λ is wavelength.
ω=2πf = angular frequency, where f=1T is frequency, and T is period.
ϕ = phase angle shift.
So in this case, y=6sin(4πx−160πt)
Amplitude A=6m.
Angular frequency ω=160πrad/s
Frequency f=ω2π=80Hz
Wave number k=4πm−1
Wavelength λ=2πk=0,5m
Velocity v=fλ=40m/s
Direction of wave movement is forward, perpendicular to direction of disturbance, ie transverse wave.
