Answer:

No one is perfect, but we can always try and build upon something we love or need. Be the painter, photographer, bilingual or above all, Self-Reliant – something that you’ve always wanted to be!

In one of his recent messages, India’s Prime minister, Mr. Narendra Modi mentioned,

“…The most important message from this pandemic is that we need to be self-reliant. This self-reliance should be at the village, district, state, and national level in terms of our needs and our ability to satisfy them within our own country.”

Let’s make this lockdown much productive for ourselves. Let’s learn some new skills or achieve excellence in the existing ones. Here are some skills that we can learn in this lockdown, which will be helpful to us throughout our lives.

COOKING-

More than half of the working population, resides away from their native places. Food is a basic necessity of human beings.

Up to an age our mothers made us meals, afterward we got dependant on roommates, maids and other food outlets to satisfy our hunger. But when will we learn to do it ourselves?

This is the time, right now we are a bit unoccupied.

And also, we all are well aware of the trending pandemic COVID-19, because of which all of our favorite food shops, cafes, and restaurants are either closed, or are perilous to go. But our home kitchens will never be closed for us. We can drop there anytime as per our wish and comfort, and can satisfy our cravings, with our hand made dishes, along with that pleasing, mind-blowing aromas of spices, as a bonus.

So, let’s invest our time in learning cooking as per our tastes, and invest the money saved, in a noble cause.

PAINTING-

Our body craves for a break from our daily Netflix and Amazon Prime web series binge-watching schedule. Let’s give our mind and body a break from laptops and cellphone screens, and set it free to wander on the streets of creativity.

Painting is a great skill to master. It’s not only a way to get rid of boredom rather it brings certain health benefits too. Painting speeds up our creative growth, strengthens our memory, improves problem-solving skills, and also acts as a stress reliever.

So let’s stay calm, and allow the Picasso inside us to take the charge!

YOGA-

It's not about being good at something. It's also important to be good to our inner selves.

We can give the pleasure of meditation to our mind and body. We should reward it for working as per our needs and, nurture it so that it continues working the same way for us. Let’s take out some time for ourselves and our body, as it will be with us for a long time.

Just the sanitization of outer surroundings isn’t enough, detoxification of the soul is also equally important.

Yoga will bring balance and stability to our lives. Let’s include yoga to our daily routine and feel the change.

GARDENING-

Let’s try to get a bit detox from digitalization, and turn towards some organic, pure, harmless life skill. We should learn the art of gardening, and feel the level of satisfaction while watching our dining table adorned with self-grown veggies and flowers(for decorative purpose).

In these crucial times of pandemic also, we can be self-assured about the safety of our eatables as we have grown them on our own.

Gardening also proves to be a mood booster activity, it also helps in overcoming loneliness.

So let’s get ready to have safe, self-grown herbs and spices, as per our choice. Also may our kitchens smell from the aroma of herbs and spices and our gardens, with the fragrance of Jasmine and Roses!

LEARN A LANGUAGE-

In this era of globalization, there are several advantages of learning a foreign language. It gives us an edge while traveling to various nations, and apart from that it also enhances our mental abilities.

In the process of learning a new language, unknowingly we may end up improving ourselves at our existing language. Learning a foreign language can even result in opening doors to various job opportunities for us.
