a small amount of calcium oxide is taken in a beaker and a water is added slowly to it.

1. will there be any change in the temperature of the contents? explain.

2. name and define the reaction taking place ?

3. write chemical equation for above reaction.

when calcium oxide is in presence of water it reacts and give calcium hydroxide.
also called slaked lime. A lot of heat (exothermic reactions) is produced in the reactions, which may even cause the water to boil.
