A small device that attracts iron nails from some distance the forces involved in this process is a magnetic force.    

  It is a force without contact between magnet and iron nails which is always an attraction. Here iron nails are not in contact with the small device, therefore, it is called as a non-contact force.        

  The magnet is composed of north and south poles which attract each other whereas the same poles repel each other. That is what happened here.
