The advantages and disadvantages of two types of transmission media (twisted pair cable and fiber optic) are discussed below:

Explanation:

  • Twisted pair cable advantages: It is cheaper. Twisted pair cable can be easily connected to the computer. Both analog and digital data can be carried in it.
  • Twisted pair cable disadvantages: The sheath which is present around the capable is very thin and easily prone to damage.
  • Fiber optics advantages: It has a greater speed. They have a better reliability and can cover long distances. No electricity is being used hence, easy to handle. They are light weighted.
  • Fiber optics disadvantages: The light emitting sources will have low power. Optical fibers are more prone to damage.
  • It would be best for wireless media to be used for clients and visitors as the wiring system is limited whereas the wireless system is not.
