As we know know living things grow by their own, they also reproduce, breathe, moves from place to place. But snowball grows when we roll snow on it, not by its own. It will be not considered as living being because it needs to breathe, reproduce, move etc.

Hope it helps. :)

A snowball grows in size when it is rolled over fresh snow but it is not considered as a living things because anything can be considered as living when it shows all the following properties of living organism ----------->

<> Living organisms are composed of cells. They can be unicellular or multi-          cellular organisms

<> Living organisms grow and its body matures and becomes complex.

<> They respond to stimuli.

<> Living things reproduce to continue the existence of their species.

<> Living things show movement. It can be internal movement, or                              locomotion.

<> Living organisms respire to burn food and produce energy.

<> Living things show adaptation.

Since, a snowball doesn't show all the characteristics of being living, it is not considered as a living thing.
