A soldier fires a bullet horizontally from a top of a cliff from a velocity of 10m/s. If the bullet strikes the ground after 2 second. find the height of the cliff. Also calculate the velocity with which the bullet strikes the ground.

Answer:

Initial and final velocities are same = 10m/s

Time is 2 second

And acceleration is 10 m/s^2

so,

v = g x t = 20 m/s

Final velocity of the bullet as it strikes the ground is given by--

so 10√5 m/s^2 is final velocity

Let h be the height of the cliff.

so, height = 0.5gt^2 = 20 m
