A solid metallic cuboid of dimensions 9 m x 8 m x 2 m is melted and recast into solid cubes of edge 2 m. Find the number of cubes so formed.

length of cuboid = 9m

Breadth of the cuboid = 8m

height of the cuboid = 2m

volume of the cuboid = l × b × h

9m × 8m × 2m

72m2 × 2m

144m3


Again we find volumes of the cube .

here side of cube = 2

using formula,

volume of cube = (side)3
v \: of \: cube \:  =  {2}^{3}  \\  \\  = 8 {m}^{3}
no \: of \: cubes \: form \:  =  \frac{vol \: of \: cuboid }{volume \: of \: cube}  \\  \\ no \: of \: cube \: form \:  =  \frac{144}{8}   \\  \\  = 18

therefore the number of cube formed is equal to 18 .
