a solid object that weigts 525 n is placed on a wooden plank and a pressure of 50 pa is applied calculate the area of the contact between the object and the wooden plank

Pressure

Pressure is the Force per unit area. (SI unit : Pascal)

Hence, the formula for pressure becomes :

P =   \frac{Force}{Area}

Here, Weight is the force applied by the object downwards.

Answer :

50 =  \frac{525}{Area}  \\  \\  =  >Area =  \frac{525}{50}  \\  \\  =  > Area = 10.5

Therefore area of contact between plank and object = 10.5 m^2
