A solid sphere of radius 3 cm is melted and then recast into small spherical balls each ofdiameter 0.6cm. Find the number of balls.

Let the radius of solid sphere be r₁ and for spherical ball be r₂ .

Now :

Number of ball = Volume of solid sphere / volume of spherical ball .

= 4 / 3 π r₁³ / 4 / 3 π r₂³

= 4 / 3 π × 3 × 3 × 3 / 4 / 3 π × 0.3 × 0.3 × 0.3

=  3 × 3 × 3 / 0.3 × 0.3 × 0.3

= 1000 .

Therefore , Number of balls is 1000 .
