Question :

A solution contain 60g of common salt in 500g of water calculate the concentration in term of mass by mass percentage of the solution.

Given :

  • Mass of common salt = 60 g
  • Mass of water = 500 g

To Find :

  • Concentration interms of mass by mass percentage of the solution.

Solution :

Here ,

  • Solute is common salt
  • Solvent is water

and therefore , solution is common salt + water [solute + solvent]

We have ,

Mass of solute [mass of common salt] = 60 g

Mass of solvent [mass of water] = 500 g.

Mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent = 60 g + 500 g = 560 g

Now ,

 \\ {\boxed{\rm{concentration =  \frac{mass \: of \: solute}{mass \: of \: solution}  \times 100}}} \\

 \\  \longrightarrow \rm concentration =  \frac{60 \: g}{560 \: g}  \times 100 \\

 \\  \longrightarrow \rm \: concentration =  0.107 \times 100 \\

 \\  \longrightarrow \rm \: concentration = 10.7\% \\

\\ \longrightarrow \rm \: concentration \approx 11\% \\ \\

Hence , the required answer is 11%.

Given :-

A solution contain 60g of common salt is 500g of water

To Find :-

calculate the concentration in term of mass by mass percentage of the solution

Solution :-

At first

The total mass of the solution = 500 + 60 = 560 g

Now

\sf Concertation = \dfrac{Mass_{solute} \times 100}{Mass_{solvent}}

\sf Concertation = \dfrac{60 \times 100}{560}

\sf Concertation = \dfrac{6000}{560}

\sf Concertation = 10.7\%
