Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

A Solution contains 8 liters of acid and 32 liters of water. How many liters of water must be evaporated to produce a solution which will be 40% acid?

---------

Equation:

water - water = water

------

Note: 32 liters of water in 40 liters is 80% water

--------------

0.80*40 - 1*x = 0.60(40-x)

-----

80*40-100x = 60*40-60x

-40x = -20*40

x = 20 liters (amt of water to evaporate)

------
