Volume of water = 100ml
Mass of sugar = 40g
We know that volume will not change because the particles of sugar will adjust themselves in the intermolecular space of water.
So volume of solution = volume of solvent = 100ml
We know that,
concentration
= mass of solute/volume of solution × 100
=> 40/100 × 100
= 40%
Hence, the concentration is 40%
