A solution of ammonium chloride in water shows ph less than 7

hiiii!!

The pH value of the solution will decrease (basically less than 7) as the solution will become slightly acidic . The reason as per my knowledge is : The salt ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) will first ionise (or dissociates) into the NH4+ and Cl- ions. ... By virtue of HCl being a strong acid and ammonium chloride (NH4OH) being a weak base

Hope it helps
